Patan is ancient fortified town situated on the banks of Saraswati River , one of the 3 holy rivers of India alongside the Ganga and the Yamuna. Patan was founded by Vanraj Chavda in 746 AD. Patan is famous for Patan Patola, the ancient art of double ikat.
Patan is also a famous tourist place. There are around 100 Jain temples in Patan. Mahavir Swami Derasar in Dhandherwad is famous for carved wooden dome. Hindu temples are Kalika Mata, Sindhwai Mata, Harihareshwar Mahadev and Brahma Kund. Hemachandracharya Gyan Mandir is also famous for thousands of rare ancient manuscripts in Sanskrit and Prakrit.
