Junagadh is located at the foot of the mountain GIRNAR. Mount Girnar is a popular place to visit. Girnar Mountain is about 1100m (3630 ft) high and is an extinct volcano. Neminath , the 22nd tirthankara, is said to have died on Mount Girnar after living here for 700 years. There is a special marble temple dedicated to him here.

Junagadh is also famous for the Gir Sanctuary, home of Asiatic lions. Junagadh has a famous agricultural university in Gujarat .

How to Reach to Junagadh :

Nearest Airport is in Keshod to reach Junagadh. Daily flights are available from Bombay to Keshod. Dwarka is on meter guage line connecting to Ahmedabad. Ahmedabad is 395 kms from Dwarka. Various state transport buses as well as private buses are available to reach Junagadh from Ahmedabad and Rajkot.

Tourist Attraction:
3630 ft Girnar Mountain is the major tourist attraction. Beautiful carved Jain Temple is at 600ft. Famous Naminath, 22nd tirthankara marble temple is also here. Dattatreya temple is on the top of the hill. There is also goddess Amba Mata temple. Gorakhnath Peak is at 3666ft. Visitors must climb 5,500 steps to reach the top of the hill.

Damodara Kund is famous bathing kund at the bottom of Girnar Hill. Sakar Bagh is a garden located 4km north of the downtown area of Junagadh. The small Junagadh Zoo at Sakar Bagh has Gir lions, tigers, leopards, and other animals

There is a small Ayurvedic Museum at the Ayurvedic College at Sadarbag in the west part of town.

The Buddhist caves are fine examples of rock cut architecture with ornamented pillars, carved entrances, water cisterns, chaitya hall, monastic cells for meditation and chaitya windows. The Adi-Kadi Vav(15th century) has a long flight of 120 steps leading to water.

Gir National Park, Prabhas patan-Somnath, Chorwad are also near to Junagadh.
